The Howard Gilman Performance Space is an open stage space with a raked seating system that accommodates 136 audience members. Additional floor seating may increase total capacity to 150.  The seating system can also be removed entirely.

THE STAGE

The stage is 42’ (12.8m) wide by 43’ (13.1m) deep.  The ceiling height is 17’7”, and the grid height is 15’4”.

THE HOUSE

A raked seating system accommodates 136 in 7 rows of bench seating – 20 people per row in the first six rows, and 16 people in the last row. If floor seating is appropriate, 14 cushions (with backs) can be added. The lighting and sound consoles are positioned on the top-most riser of the seating system, at center, and may be accessed either by passing through the last row of seats or from below via a ladder. 

EQUIPMENT

The Howard Gilman Performance Space is outfitted with a 200 Amp, 3-phase service for theatrical lighting. Three ETC Sensor SP2420B dimmer packs (24 x 2.4k) are dedicated to this space. 72 x 2.4k dimmers are available for conventional theatrical lighting instruments. 78 circuits are permanently distributed over the grid.

A basic repertory light plot is in place containing ETC Source 4 units, and Source 4 PAR WFLs.  The lighting control console is an ETC Express 250, and the sound console is a Yamaha 01V-96.

The sound system features front speakers, optional subwoofer, and monitors over the stage area mixed by a Yamaha 01V-96 sound console. Alternatively, the Allen & Heath PA 12-CP mixer may be used for simpler applications. Playback is available via CD and Macbook Pro with Q-Lab.

DRESSING ROOMS

There are separate men’s and women’s locker rooms located on the same level as the Howard Gilman Performance Space.  Please note that these locker rooms double as restrooms for audience during performances.
